Dr. Sanchez is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Rutgers University. Dr. Sanchez’s research scientifically examines diversity issues with an emphasis on multiple identities, stigma, and health. Using a broad range of methodologies and approaches (e.g., experimental, implicit, behavioral, interactive, physiological), her work addresses two main themes: 1) the identity and categorization of people who have dual membership in social groups (e.g., bicultural or biracial individuals) with a special emphasis on how dual identities affect perceptions of intergroup boundaries, and 2) the impact of gender ideals and norms on health and close-relationships.
