Pete Norlander is an assistant professor of human resources and employment relations at Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business. His research is focused on contemporary employment relations issues, including discrimination in recruitment of the unemployed, the labor market mobility of guest workers in the IT industry, perceptions of control and motivation in the gig economy, and positive and negative experiences at work. Prior to joining Quinlan, Pete was a postdoctoral scholar at UC Berkeley’s School of Information. He received a PhD in the Management and Organizations area at UCLA and a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations. He has worked in both India and the U.S. for large corporations and small start-ups in the human resources area.
